. . . and now for something completely different

When Amanda contacted me with an exciting idea for a family photo shoot, I was humbled and excited for the opportunity to photograph her beautiful family and bring her vision to life.  We planned to meet and capture a some portraits in the beautiful golden hour light before lighting up the sky with some paper lanterns.  We ran into a few hiccups with decade-old lanterns that were hesitant to catch fire and an unexpected fear of being anywhere near the flames, but the end result was still a lovely record of time spent together.

Thank you all so much for a fun and adventurous photo shoot!

Miss A - Grove City, PA Portrait Photography

I'm a few days late in saying it, but happy 2015!

Today we have featured a photo shoot with Miss A, whose parents wanted to capture this moment in her life while highlighting her active and creative spirit.  I'm always happy to hear when clients have some ideas about a specific direction they'd like to take their session.  Although it was a little chilly for an outdoor photo shoot, A held her own and really came alive when it was time to run around and be silly.  Making our way indoors was a welcome change for us all, with easier smiles and more silliness abounding.

I hope you enjoy seeing these images as much as I enjoyed making them.  What fun ideas would you incorporate into a photo shoot to bring out your own personality (or your family's)?

O Christmas Tree

I probably sound like a broken record when I say "My favorite part of the Christmas season is..." because there are so many parts that seem utterly important and that fill my heart with so much joy.  As we get older, it becomes harder and harder to make all these holiday traditions happen the way they did when we were little.  So, I was deeply thankful this year to be able to go with my family to pick out and cut down (thanks, menfolk ;) ) a real tree to adorn my parents' living room.  I hope your holiday traditions are alive and well and that you're making some new memories this year to brighten the Christmases to come.

A friendly welcome

We decided to keep looking.

Still not quite right.

Aha!

Thank you to Williams Tree Farm in Honeoye Falls, NY for helping to make my Christmas special this year!

Mercer, Pennsylvania Family Photography

Well, it's been a busy summer so far, and once again, things have been quiet on the blog.  That does not mean I haven't been busy with various photography projects, though.  I met Nicole, a fellow artist in the area, a little less than a year ago, and I was delighted when she asked me to photograph her family on their beautiful land in Mercer, PA.  I was even more excited when she told me that her family was interested in incorporating my editing style into their portraits.  Using photoshop to bring out a romantic, ethereal quality in my images is one of my favorite things, as you might guess by looking through my fine art work, so the opportunity to take portrait photography into that realm was a challenge I was more than happy to take on.  I enjoyed working on these, and I hope you enjoy them too.
