Say Cheese? - Grove City, PA Senior Photography

As someone who is decidedly more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it, I completely understand how the idea of being the sole focus of an extended photo shoot could be overwhelming.  While some people feel completely natural being photographed, it isn't everyone's idea of a fun way to spend an hour or two.  And, while Gray here was a total pro at smiling for the camera, he wasn't looking for a long and complicated photo session.  He was more at ease being photographed near his home and staying in one outfit that made him comfortable.  I thought his session was a perfect example of how a photo shoot doesn't need to be long and involved to produce a variety of great results.  Sometimes, simple is ideal.  Thanks, Gray!

. . . and now for something completely different

     When Amanda contacted me with an exciting idea for a family photo shoot, I was humbled and excited for the opportunity to photograph her beautiful family and bring her vision to life.  We planned to meet and capture a some portraits in the beautiful golden hour light before lighting up the sky with some paper lanterns.  We ran into a few hiccups with decade-old lanterns that were hesitant to catch fire and an unexpected fear of being anywhere near the flames, but the end result was still a lovely record of time spent together.

Sarah Hempel Irani - Artist Portrait

It's always an honor to be complimented by other artists, let alone be hired by one to help her promote her business.  I was so happy to be able to help the ever-fabulous Sarah with a photo shoot to help revitalize her website and professional imagery.  (As of 1/22/15, the images on her site are not mine, but check back in the future for updates!)

Sarah is an inspiration in our little town.  She was a major driving force in the founding of Grove City ArtWorks, a gallery and artist studio space in Olde Town Grove City, PA.  It's a place where artists, myself included, can have their very own solo gallery show and where community members can come to talks, plays, concerts, camps, and workshops, all of which make Grove City a more beautiful place to live and visit.

In her own work, Sarah is an award-winning, classically-trained sculptor.  In the images below you'll see some of the works in progress in her studio.  She's done a number of sacred art pieces that now grace Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Maryland, among other places. For the month of February, her work will be featured at Grove City ArtWorks, and Sarah will be hosting a number of events during the month to round out the artistic experience for visitors.  Check the ArtWorks website often to stay up-to-date on what's happening when.  You can even join their mailing list by emailing grovecityarts @ gmail . com if you're interested in regular updates about upcoming events at the gallery.

Miss A - Grove City, PA Portrait Photography

I'm a few days late in saying it, but happy 2015!

Today we have featured a photo shoot with Miss A, whose parents wanted to capture this moment in her life while highlighting her active and creative spirit.  I'm always happy to hear when clients have some ideas about a specific direction they'd like to take their session.  Although it was a little chilly for an outdoor photo shoot, A held her own and really came alive when it was time to run around and be silly.  Making our way indoors was a welcome change for us all, with easier smiles and more silliness abounding.
